Help me create a British Wildlife Collection

About me:

I am Katie Marie Walker, a budding student specialising in printing textile design at Norwich University of the Arts completing my final project and 3^rd year.

Within my studies at university I have excelled in drawing, and creating fun and exciting illustrations based on wildlife. I have been incredibly involved in my textiles practice from the start of my degree and plan to finish with flying colours!

I have always loved animals; I am very happy to say I have finally found a way to show this passion in my favourite media: textiles. I am currently 2/16 weeks into my final university project and my ideas are already becoming interesting and exciting. My dreams of creating a collection of textile products are becoming a reality.

My project:

I plan to create a collection for the interior design market with illustration of British wildlife. Within my collection I will design and produce at least four wallpapers (with a series of colour-ways) and a range of complementary accessories such as pillows (hand-printed on silk) and decorative plates.

I will also create new individual designs by testing a selection of fabrics and techniques such as digital and screen-printing, and different materials such as silks, wools, and cottons.

My hand-drawn wildlife designs will include my favourite animals, such as birds, foxes, and badgers.

Why I am asking for Funding:

To further my research into British wildlife I will take trips over the country to study taxidermy and natural history. To do this I need to fund my travel to visit a range of museums, archives, and nature reserves.

Alongside my degree show I plan to attend the textiles networking event New Designers, this opportunity will help me to create contacts and potential clients which will further my career.

For me to partake in this experience I will have to have duplicate my collection as my degree show is at the same time. I feel balancing the costs of both events will be difficult but with this funding I will be able to take this potential career enhancing opportunity.
