Support a Student Today

The London International Youth Science Forum

Has LIYSF made an impact in your life?  Are you passionate about encouraging and engaging the next generation of young scientists? Help contribute today to this appeal and support students to attend LIYSF 2014 that have all the academic capabilities but have financial difficulties to attend.  Any amount that you can afford will help.

Your donation suffers zero administration cost with 100% of donated funds sponsoring students directly. Places will be offered to students based on a range of criteria and across many nationalities. We work with embassies, schools, British Council offices and organisations around the world that have many worthy students for such an opportunity - they just need financial support to make their dream a reality.

hubbub.net have also agreed to waive all their fees to support LIYSF, so every single penny will go towards helping students.

About LIYSF

Founded in 1959, the London International Youth Science Forum aims to give a deeper insight into science and its deeper applications for the benefit of all mankind; and to develop a greater understanding between young people of all nations."

LIYSF is a two week residential event held at Imperial College London, with lectures and demonstrations from leading scientists, visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions and organisations, including world class laboratories and universities.

LIYSF attracts over 350 of the world's leading young scientists aged 17-21 years old from more than 60 participating countries. There is an active social calendar with events designed to enable those from around the world to learn about different cultures. The scope of LIYSF extends further than broadening scientific understanding to engage students in education on other cultures and develop lasting, international friendships.

This year the forum will be held from the 23rd July to 6th August.

Feel free to explore the LIYSF website at http://www.liysf.org.uk/

What Will You Receive?

It's up to you how much involvement you have. We are happy to offer those that contribute funds to this cause the following:

  • Introduction to students that you have helped supported. This will be by e-mail.

  • Report from the student who you helped support about their experience of attending LIYSF and what it has meant to them

  • Inclusion in our 2014 programme

  • Invitation to attend our opening ceremony on Thursday 24th July in London.

How it Works and Costs

Please donate to us the amount that you can afford. Donated money will be contributed to this appeal and the money overall will be used to help students.

As a sponsor you will be kept up to date with the developments. When you are donating money, if you have any specific requests, please contact me directly at richard.myhill@liysf.org.uk - perhaps for example you would like the money targeted at students from a particular country or region.

Depending on the final value reached we will assess the best way of distributing the funds, perhaps it will be offering free places to students, or perhaps it will be part scholarships for students to attend. reducing the participation fee.

For your reference, the participation fee per student is £1,495. The fee covers the total cost of the programme; all meals and accommodation; lectures and demonstrations; programme visits and entrance charges; travel in central London to programmed events and the social programme. It does not cover optional sightseeing tours, theatre tickets and transfer to London.

Thank You

We are very grateful to you for your support and hope that we can keep growing and sharing the magic of LIYSF with the next generation of young scientists.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at richard.myhill@liysf.org.uk or 0044 20 8295 8395.
