(I'm the catcher in the video above.. Number 11)
My name is Stephanie Pearce, and I play for the Great Britain Women's Softball Team. I have been a part of the squad that has travelled to three European Championships, and two World Championships. Great Britain Softball has qualified to compete at the first EVER World Championships to take place in Europe. The tournament will take place in Haarlem, Netherlands 15-24th August 2014.
It is so important for me to be able to raise the money in order to travel to this tournament. Not only because this will be the first World Championships to ever be held in Europe, but also because playing on the Women’s softball team has always been one of my most proud moments, and nothing beats the goose bumps you feel when you’re standing in front the British flag singing the national anthem. The passion i hold for this sport can not be described in words, and only with how I play on the field alongside a group of girls who I love and can call my family.
The Million Dollar Question
I am asking for donations no matter how big or small to help with the large costings asked of us players to be able to compete on the British softball national team. Our sad issue is that since softball was cut from the olympics in 2008 we have always had to fund ourselves to travel and play the sport we love. This is never cheap, and every year it gets harder and harder to fund these tournaments, especially with being a full time student with no income.
The girls that play on our national team live all over the world, and so it is very hard for us to get together to train and play. When we do it is at extra cost, and so each of us also have to contribute a lot of money in order to hold training camps before the main event.
Any money that is raised through this project will bring me one step closer to being able to be a part of the Squad going to the World Championships 2014 in the Netherlands. I will not be able to do it alone so any help would mean so much to me, and will be highly appreciated.
Money Isn't Everything
We are aware that not everyone will be able to offer financial help, but there are still ways that you could help out with the project. I would really appreciate it if you could click the ‘I want to help’ button above if you are happy to help share this project so that it can reach more people, as this would help contribute just as much.
