Fund a boy with behavioural problems to take part in a challenge to climb to Everest Base Camp

Nooton House School

Notton House School is a community residential special school for boys with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The boys come from Bristol and the surrounding area. Boys arrive at the school having experienced significant trauma in their lives and having failed in many previous schools. The boys gain success, boost their sef-esteem and show their resilience, strength and determination when challenged through outdoor pursuits.

The Highest Classroom on Earth

The Highest Classroom in Earth Challenge is to complete the trek to Everest Base Camp in October 2013. This will involve close to 30 hours of trekking ascending to altitudes of over 5,300 metres.  The expedition team will include eight students selected from the Engage in their Future network of schools.

Two students from Notton House School have succeeded in getting through a selection weekend in Snowdonia and are now preparing for the final selection event in June.

The funds

Part of the school’s commitment to the Highest Classroom on Earth is to support each student with a mentor and a financial contribution of £2,400.

If no student from Notton is selected then the funds raised will go to purchasing outdoor clothing and footwear and funding an expedition to climb Ben Nevis in July 2013.

Thank you,

Dr Jon Houston (Deputy Headteacher)
