I really appreciate the help everyone has offered to me for this, thank you so much for pledging and sharing my campaign. Sadly, with only 9 hours to go, it's extremely unlikely that I'm going to meet my goal and therefore wont be funded at all.
I've decided to try again, but on a different crowd-funding platform, one which will allow me to be funded whether I meet my goal or not. I've also set the goal much lower, but if it reaches the target, I can continue to raise funds over and above that.
I hope that you will still be interested in helping me out and would really appreciate if you did, once this current campaign runs out this evening.
I can't thank you enough for your support,
Louise

"Bichan’s vividly expressive and evocative chamber-folk score
underpinned a wonderfully engaging, absorbing illumination of past lives
and family ties."
Sue Wilson, the Scotsman, 25th May 2015
I am absolutely delighted with how things went this weekend at the Orkney Folk Festival, with the first concert of 'Out of My Own Light' on Thursday and a special viewing of the show on Friday, lots of great comments and the above words from Sue Wilson, in the Orkney Folk Festival write up in the Scotsman. I was exhausted but happy on Saturday morning, after putting so much energy into the project for so long I'm delighted it went so well and now I can't wait to finish the album!
I'm still a long way off target, with only four days to go, so not looking too hopeful at this stage, but I am so so grateful to everyone who pledged to my campaign, I really do appreciate it. As they say 'where there is a will there is a way' and I certainly am determined, so I will figure this one out! :)
Thank you,
Louise
Really looking forward to performing the music from my project in Orkney next week. As we as the concert, I'm having a gathering at the Pier Arts Center on Fri 22nd May between 2pm and 3.30pm, as an 'unofficial opening' type thing, please do come along if you can make it, would love to have lots of folk there.
Just had a fantastic few days recording for 'Out of My Own Light' at Watercolour Studio in Ardgour, a really a special place to record an album, with such a
fantastic group of people, who I can't thank enough; Su-a Lee, Mike Vass, Mike Guest,
Duncan Lyall, Angus Lyon, Jennifer Austin and Signy Jakobsdottir. It is extremely rewarding and really
exciting to hear the music I have been working on for so long, finally
come to life and I couldn't have asked for
a better team, what a fun week! Thank you so much to Nick and Mary Ann
of Watercolour, it is such a beautiful, inspiring place to create music
and a fantastic backdrop for photos and video; really brilliant having
Mike Guest around to take loads of beautiful photos and video footage (and
create masterpieces in the kitchen too, what a guy!)
I'm really excited about this album, I can't wait to finish it off and to be able to share it, but first up, the concert at Orkney Folk Festival next week... Tickets on sale online for 'Out of My Own Light' at the Orphir Hall on Thursday 21st: www.orkneyfolkfestival.com
Listen to some snippets from the album and see more photos of the studio and musicians here: www.facebook.com/LBichan
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, I'm still a long way off my goal, but haven't given up hope yet, I'd really appreciate if you would share the link and help spread the word about my champagne and the project. Thank you!
I've put together a wee video with some rough clips of the music I'm going to be recording for my project 'Out of My Own Light' next week. I'm really excited to have some fantastic musicians bring my music to life. I have Su-a Lee on cello, Mike Vass on fiddle and guitar, Jen Austin on piano, Duncan Lyall on double bass and Signy Jakobsdottir on piano. The first rehearsals are this week, which I am both nervous and excited for! Have a listen/look here:

Also, there are some photos from the exhibition in the Pier Arts Centre in Orkney, here: http://www.pierartscentre.com/current-upcoming-exhibition/25/4/2015/out-of-my-own-light-louise-bichan
All the image pages have been printed and the typesetting has bee done and printed for the photographic book, so Lachlan has begun binding the first books, which I can't wait to see! I had a look at some of the image pages before I headed up to Shetland Folk Festival with Fara this weekend, and was really pleased with the way they have turned out.
It's all starting to come together!
I'm delighted that my exhibition for 'Out of My Own Light', at the Pier Arts Centre in Orkney is now open and this lovely write up was printed in the Herald yesterday:
The book is well under-way with being printed now, I should have the first few copies in hand, in time for the Orkney Folk Festival on the 21st May, where I will be performing the music for the project, alongside Jen Austin on piano, Mike Vass on fiddle/guitar, Su-a Lee on cello, Duncan Lyall on double bass and Signy Jacobsdottir on percussion. I'll also be joined by cousin Alice Tait for a couple of sets too, Alice travelled with me to Canada in 2013 when I first set out to work on this project.
I'm so grateful to all the generous donations I have received so far, I'd really appreciate if you would help by sharing this campaign too, thank you so much!
Thank you so much to all my generous sponsors so far, I really am so grateful for your support!

Spelling was never my strong point... "help spread the word about my champagne" - I'd actually prefer if you helped spread the word about my campaign, if you would be so kind.. and if I reach my goal, perhaps then I can share my champagne... ! Thank you! :)
