In honour of the late, great Robin Williams, we are hoping to hold a pop-up cinema event on one of the Brookes courtyards for a special, outdoor screening of Mrs. Doubtfire - chosen by Boookes students in a poll as the Robin Williams film they would most enjoy seeing.
Who are WE?We are a group of five, third-year Film Studies students, trying to make our final project a memorable and entertaining event for the whole University.
our storyIf you are wondering what a pop-up cinema is, you really don't need to look beyond the name. At a date to be later confirmed (either 30th of April or 1st of May) at 7pm, a cinema-screen will be set up in a Brookes courtyard for a very special showing of Mrs. Doubtfire - free for any and all Brookes students to attend, even if they just happen to just be passing by! We decided to make this event a tribute to Robin Williams as we know the late actor was particularly beloved by our generation, and to make sure we chose his most popular film, we created a poll and asked Brookes students to decide themselves what film to show, Mrs. Doubtfire ended up being the landslide winner. So if you can help us sponsor this event, we're going to take a nostalgic trip back to 1993 and enjoy one of the greatest family films ever made, and one of Robin's most memorable roles.
Where will the money go?
Our minimum target is £100, with this we can rent out the screen at the very least. However our aim is £200 and with that extra money we can do so much more to make the night amazing, including providing popcorn and other snacks and refreshments, setting up a photobooth, and buying props and decorations. We will also be able to thoroughly advertise the event through leaflets and posters, to make sure we reach as many students as possible... we want everyone to enjoy this event!
