WHO ARE WE?

Hello and welcome to our Degree Show Fundraiser page! The two costume courses of Wimbledon College of Art (Design and Interpretation) have teamed up to try and raise as much money as possible for our final year degree show, which allows us to display all our hard work in a professional setting at the Wimbledon Space.

Wimbledon College of Art- part of the larger University of the Arts London- is a renowned theatre College that produces talented, skilled graduates in many theatre disciplines that go onto to achieve a large range within TV, Theatre, Film and fine art areas.

Within Wimbledon we have two costume courses:

Costume Design: Within Costume Design we design for many disciplines of performance working closely with professionals in the Industry to help us understand the demands of the real world! This year, this includes a dance project with well-known Choreographer Javier de Frutos, a fringe theatre project with writer and Director Pat Cumper and Wimbledon Alumni and director Simon Vincenzi. We also have designed and constructed conceptual pieces that have been transformed from the paper into reality. These highly creative costumes will also be on show at our Degree Show from the 12th- 20th June.

Costume Interpretation: The Costumiers of Interpretation cover the construction side of the Costume Department, including dress-making, tailoring, millinery and extensive dye and prop work. This year they have worked with experienced Costume Designers Jacqui Gunn, David Collis and Richard Hudson to bring their designs to life within the world of Mozart’s Operas. Their ‘Ordinary Lives’ project encompasses everyday garments ranging from Medieval times to the 1940’s for men and women,  and their final costume of the course is chosen from a design of their choice- so expect lots of armour based costumes and extensive colour and tailoring work.

WHAT ARE WE FUNDING FOR?

The money you kindly pledge will go towards creating and curating an Exhibition that does justice to the hard work we have put into our time at Wimbledon. This show is a professional setting for us to display our work and launch our careers with your help. WE NEED TO RAISE OVER £2000. This is will cover the following:

- The Artist Directory Catalogue- This is a printed catalogue of everyone involved in the Theatre Degree Show and contains examples of our work and more importantly- our contact details!  So if you’re a hotshot director, look no further…

- The Materials: In order to put our show together, we obviously need paint and framing materials! (surprisingly more expensive than we thought…)

-The Private View: on the Evening of the 12th June (Please come!) we officially open our exhibition to the public and hope to offer refreshments to welcome everyone.

- The Industry Night: We invite influential Practitioners from the world of the Arts to come and view our work. This is a chance for us to schmooze and hopefully secure jobs and contacts for the future. Again, we really hope to provide refreshments at this event.
